Description
All the fleeting thoughts in our minds represent all of the sensory data that has been processes and re-examined over our lifetime. Thoughts relating to a specific idea are just neurons in the brain interlinked with other neurons, normally in large clusters in close proximity to one another. It is not the neurons themselves that hold the information for an idea, but the links between the neurons and their interconnectedness that allows this idea to be created inside the mind. The links between neurons that are stimulated the most frequently have the strongest links and therefore resist the wear of decay over time, which allows the recollection for those ideas much easier to access. To formulate ideas from weak links requires focus since these links are not stimulated that frequently and require the user of that mind to direct the link of neurons to that area of infrequently used links. This is why meditation has been recommended, since an unfocused mind will only latch onto those easy, frequently used links, which normally lead to bad habits and too much focus on idea, or even a memory from the past with strong links. Thoughts are not just ideas, but they can be beliefs too, the difference being that ideas are just fleeting in the moment, but beliefs hold an emotional bond to an idea, making them the strongest connections in the brain, and therefore, hard to forget or change a belief. The emotion of a belief lies in the chemicals released when stimulating certain clusters of neurons, and each set of chemicals will make you feel certain emotions. Very few of these emotions are primal and instinctual, such as lust, but nevertheless come from the daily habits and routines we follow each day. And finally, a thought can be a process of logic, which we can use to solve an equation, since logic is mathematical after all. But some logical arguments use only words to arrive at a conclusion, and since words have no conclusive definition, our minds get conflicting information about a thought and therefore we arrive at seemingly non logical conclusions, called fallacies. It is still unknown whether we can convert language into a logical equation that can be solved by computers, but maybe some day we will.
